Testimonials

I first started to use book 1 of the series in September 2010.  At the time, I was teaching at Quebec Music School and Vimont Music School. Other teachers from both schools adopted the book and have continued with books 2 and 3 with great enthusiasm and success. I have included here a small sample of the testimonials that have come to me from teachers, parents and students.

As a music teacher, I have realized that one of the most difficult things to do is to keep a student interested in a method book. "Cool Guitar for Cool Kids" breaks up playing with "information" pages, littered with cartoons illustrating vocabulary, concepts and techniques useful to playing both guitar and music in general. This not only keeps the kids (old and young) entertained, but gives the impression that they are progressing quickly. Other methods may have 3 pieces on a page, which, for the slower-paced student, could mean 6 weeks on any given pair of pages. "Cool Guitar for Cool Kids" is a page-turner, so to speak, giving students the confidence they need to continue. Overall, a great tool for students and teachers alike!

My son, Christopher Forlini, is 11 and has been a student of yours for 4 or 5 years and has always enjoyed your teaching methods. The new method you've used in "Cool Guitar For Cool Kids" perfectly reflects your style of teaching and Christopher's learning style. It is geared toward the young kids and Christopher loves it. The exercises are current and reflective of his generation. Full of tricks, quizzes and chances to build his own music, this book keeps him interested and an active participant in his learning. Also, the text is bigger and easy to read and the language very understandable for this age group.I keep asking him if he is still interested to keep going in guitar and keep learning and his answer is always yes...you are definietly doing something right.

I think that this book is really well done. I like how there are pictures that represent certain terms that are used in music. For example in book one the musical term ‘ledger line’ is represented by cartoon notes on a ladder. I also like the fact that there are little emoticons and funny little phrases. I really really liked the fun facts that are in the book.

I think that Mr. Cousineau is a great teacher and that his books are very informative and fun.
